A woman has survived an eighty-foot drop off a balcony in Mexico after slipping while trying to perform a dangerous yoga pose.
According to local newspaper El Imparcial, 23-year-old university student Alexa Terrazas was photographed by her friend posing on the railing of their San Pedro, Nuevo León apartment, before slipping and falling six floors. The photo shows her putting her body weight on the railing before flipping upside down.
It was reported that she broke at least 110 bones in the fall and spent 11 hours in reconstructive surgery on her knees on ankles. She suffered massive trauma to her hips and head as well and she may not be able to walk again for three years. She also suffered critical injuries to her hips and head.
Luckily the community pulled together for her and almost 100 people signed up to donate blood to help Terrazas through the grueling surgery.
The local media was told by neighbors that they were used to seeing Terrazas perform the dangerous stunt from the edge of her balcony.
It’s not the first time a person has been badly injured while attempting dangerous yoga. It isn’t even the first time it has happened this year. Earlier this year, a New York woman drowned during a stand-up paddleboard yoga class.
We are rooting for Alexa to make a full recovery as soon as possible. Hopefully her days of balcony down dog will be long behind her when she does.
