Born in Ecuador in a time that was simpler but harder than the days we live in today. Even before the invention of television 110-year-old Julio Cesar Mora Tapia and 104-year-old Waldramina Maclovia Quinteros have been sharing a special love.
Julio Cesar lived in Waldramina sister’s apartment building. They met when Waldramina went to see her sister during school vacation. The pair became instant friends and a bond began to grow.
Julio Cesar fell in love with Waldramina’s stunning looks, her engaging conversation, and her enormous heart. Waldramina found in Julio Cesar a clever poet with a young spirit. Seven years later, the captivated pair said ‘I do’ on February 7, 1941, at the oldest church in Quito: La Iglesia de El Belén.
Since then, they’ve had five children, 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Their advice for a long-lasting marriage? “The secret formula = love + maturity + mutual respect,” the couple told Guinness World Records.
In the current tumultuous time we are living in they offer sound loving advice. “It is true that at this time it is difficult because we are overwhelmed by the pandemic that affects the world and we still do not have a solution. However, the first step for us to follow the rules with respect and love life.” “Respect and love life.” That sounds like just the right words to live by right now.
