We are fast approaching temperatures that will make life uncomfortable especially at night unless you are lucky enough to have air conditioning.
Most of us do not have air conditioning and rely on open windows and fans, but this has little effect when the temperatures reach stifling levels even at night.
In a desperate attempt to get a good night’s sleep people are already sharing their handy tips for keeping cooler at night.
People are posting ideas such as freezing your bed sheets for a few hours before bedtime so that their beds are nice and cool, it is like a DIY air conditioner.
Bedrooms can fast turn into sauna’s which prevents you from sleeping, so grab a sealable bag, pop your sheets in them, and put them in your freezer.
If your freezer isn’t big enough to put a full sheet in, try freezing just your pillowcases.
One woman came up with another way of cooling her bed down, as she tweeted: “I put a shirt in the freezer for a few hours and then stuck it under my bed sheet when I went to bed.
“Also took an iced drink. I’m cool.”
Someone else posted: “Put your pillowcases and bedsheets in the freezer for half an hour before bed.
“This allows the material to soak up the cool air and provide a cold and comfortable surface for you to sleep on. do not put your duvets in the freezer, only the sheets!”
A third wrote: “If your ac isn’t working put your bed sheets in your fridge/freezer over the day and have a peaceful sleep at night in this unbearable weather covered with cooling sheets. You’re welcome.”
Someone else said: “Sheets in the freezer before going to bed. Google DIY air conditioners.”
“This person also recommended putting your bedding in a bag first, as they added: “Put your sheets and pillowcases in a bag, seal it tight and throw it in the freezer. Take the bag out before bed.”
And someone else added: “Exactly. Ugh. Every year I dread the return of summer
“Guess it’s time to start stuffing some bedsheets into the freezer again to help snooze with as blankets lol.”
